The values of Cub Pack 277 are the core beliefs and desires that guide and motive the attitudes and actions of our Pack leaders, parents and Scouts.
Such core beliefs are based on BSA's Scout Oath and Scout Law.Scout Oath
On my honor, I will DO MY BEST,
To do my DUTY TO GOD and my COUNTRY,
And to OBEY THE SCOUT LAW;
To HELP OTHER PEOPLE at all times,
To KEEP MYSELF PHYSICALLY STRONG,
MENTALLY AWAKE, and MORALLY STRAIGHT.
A Scout Is...
Derived from the Promise and Law our core beliefs are:DO MY BEST - We measure success on whether or not one has "done his/her best" as opposed to the outcome of the one's efforts. Failure is not simply failing a task, but is failing to learn from our mistakes. Or, in other words, falling down teaches one more about staying up than it does about falling down. Success or not, "doing one's best" is all that one can do.
DUTY TO GOD AND COUNTRY - Without guidance from a higher authority (that's above all others), our families and our free democratic Country chaos will exist. Everyone has a duty to God, family and Country.HELP OTHER PEOPLE - The joy of helping others goes beyond money and is a responsibility that every person cannot ignore.
The vision of Cub Pack 277 states the "goal" we, the parents and leaders of the Pack, want to achieve based on our values (our core beliefs). It simply tells us what our success will look it--what our desire result will be. Without knowing the desired result, we're unable to start achieving our vision.
In establishing our "goal", we need to ensure that it's SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely).
Vision Statement – Cub Pack 277's vision is instill in every 1st through 5th grade boy in Kinnelon a foundation of values based on BSA's Cub Scout Promise and Law.
